This second step in fasting really intrigued me. If you've been reading my blog, you know I had Ovarian Cancer a few years back. That's why the information scientists have discovered on this step intrigues me.
If you are able to fast between 17 and 20 hrs your cells begin to heal themselves. Your body talks to itself and says, "Hey, where's the food? I need to get stronger." Then the body takes cells that have been slowing us down or turn into cancer and gets rid of them. The body recycles them out of the system and then looks at the usable cells and makes them stronger fixing the intercellular parts. Wow! Amazing!
Also, viruses are unable to replicate, and the pituitary gland and hormones are repaired when we are in a fasted state of over 17 hrs. This kicks the brain and libido up a notch too.
This process is called autophagy, and was discovered by a Japanese cell biologist Yoshinori Ohsumi who won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2016 for his research on how cells recycle and renew their content.
I have done the second fast now and I'm discovering things about my body and energy that have me excited. Stick with me and we'll talk about what happens during fast # 3 next.

Fantastic isn’t it. I’m fascinated by the science behind fasting. Hello Pablo! Good job!
I am so thankful you are sharing this series about fasting!! I’ve listened to podcasts about it and I have been doing intermittent fasting as well. My son Pablo introduced me to it. The part about the cells was so fascinating to me!!
