Don’t Let Pride Get In the Way

Updated: Jul 15, 2023

Honestly, this might be a painful post. It was painful to write because I have been in this situation. Sometimes people will say they are making changes in their eating habits and lifestyle yet nothing is going right. They aren’t losing weight and they don’t feel better. Have you ever wanted others to buy into your narrative so you can feel better because you know the narrative is wrong? Although I don't want to continue in that vein of thinking, I certainly have done that.

I would never want to dismiss the efforts that someone is making. I value patience for my journey. What I find is that when I dig deeper, there are certain things that get overlooked. There are habits that we engage in for various reasons that cause more problems than we realize. For some, this sabotages weight loss and even potential relationships. I have friends who have expressed they feel anger that they have to lose weight to attract a partner. Personally, I say, lose weight for yourself. That way, when you look in the mirror you like YOU! It is a guarantee that others will find you more attractive too. For one thing, you’ll be exuding confidence and smiling more.

Now seriously, this was a hard post to write because it's hard to admit when I need to change. For me, it's a pride issue. I don't like people pointing it out. But this is a loving reminder that there's a better person hiding under the layers and distractions. I don't want to ignore the pure joy that would come from a healthy eating lifestyle and a more exciting wardrobe!

What are you putting in your body?
