Burning Fat While We Sleep

I know how many of us are trying to lose weight because there are so many videos about it everywhere! The question this morning is when is the best time to lose weight and belly fat?

Did you know we burn fat while we sleep? That's an opportunity I don't want to miss! Exercising and fasting are great tools but there's more to the process than meets the eye.

If we are in a high beta state of mind when we go to bed, we might not burn fat during sleeping hours. Beta state is the brain power we use while working and fully awake. We need to think about taking ourselves to sleep slowly and allowing ourselves to wake slowly.

This means the timing of when we eat really matters. There are a couple of general rules. When melatonin goes up, we become more insulin resistant. When we eat dinner later in the evening our body will not make the insulin that drives glucose into our cells. Glucose from a late meal will be stored as fat. The general rule is don't eat two hours before going to bed.

Another great rule that I'm going to start now that I know, is to take a walk after dinner. This helps our bodies use the glucose we just ate. It moves it into our muscles to be used for energy.

So, to recap, 1. Eat at least two hours before going to bed, and 2. Take a walk after dinner. Just so you know, that challenge is on for me too. Let's get healthy!

Great info. Reminds me of when I lived in Mexico. Traditional dinner time is around 3:30 or so. Then a few tacos around 7. Plus you would walk to the taco stand and walk home. I definitely lose weight when I spend time there.
