Body Love & Belly Fat



If you're feeling frustration or resentment toward your body right now, take a breath. You aren't alone on the journey to become a lean machine. How I talk to myself about my body in my head sets up how I feel about myself and my body, I want to feel sensual. I want to be confident. I am not afraid to admit that. I am on a mission to feel good and look good. It gives us confidence when we are in public or private situations.


The desire to be attractive is natural enough. However, many women and men have an exaggerated concern about how their being fat affects them and, in particular, their attractiveness to their partner. All I can say is that taking action is always the best way I can take control of my life, my body, and my relationships. Taking control by creating a plan for how to be healthier makes us feel encouraged that change will happen.


Did you know that all fat is not the same? Deposits of fat on different parts of my body gives me an indication as to what is going on hormonally in my system. Belly fat is such a common thing for so many. What we need to address is the hormone cortisol. When the belly is growing it isn't always diet related. Here are three tips to help with this problem:

  1. If we do not use cortisol, our body will store it. Cortisol peaks about two hours after we wake up. When it peaks, the body naturally wants to start moving. If we aren't moving two hours after we get up, the cortisol stores in the belly.

  2. Cortisol is always energizing and compels us to move especially after a stressful situation.

  3. Frontload the day. Morning workout, morning meditation, work and meetings between 7:30 and 4:30. Then I'm done, usually. Then I wind down the last half of the day, otherwise, I'll be energized all night!

Let's talk about the power of the 36 hr. fast. I've seen it working on my belly fat the past two weeks and it's exciting. This fast is 36 hours on and 12 hours off. If this is repeated for 30 days, studies show that the prime location of where people lost weight was in the belly. If you are specifically going after belly fat, as I am, this is the fast to consider doing for thirty days. If done right, you will not be hungry. The question is, how aggressive do you want to be? I want to be aggressive. I'm not going to make excuses. I'm just going to do it. I'm inviting you to fast with me.
